Tomorrow is the launch of a new tournament for "American Gladiators." This season will feature Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali returning to a brand new stadium in the LA Sports Arena.

Both American Gladiator winners from the first season will return as gladiators in this season.

Evan Dollard has assumed the Gladiator name "Rocket." He is being billed as "One ruthless competitor who will charm you with a blinding smile right until the moment he roars up beside you like lightning to toss you to your doom."

Monica Carlson, a Milwaukie, Oregon resident, returns to the gladiator arena with her pseudonym, "Jet." Her billing states that the "supersonic stunner is ready to create some major turbulence, so everyone should fasten their seatbelts, return their tray tables to the upright and locked positions, and prepare for a crash landing."

Another brand new female Gladiator has been added to the line-up. Jennifer Widerstrom is "Phoenix." The Gladiator "[soars] into the sky like a spirit from the flames who has been kissed by the sun, the beautiful and bewitching Phoenix is as impossible to defeat as her mythical namesake."

With the new stadium come new events. The first, "Rocketball," leaves contenders with one minute to hit their launch button and fire themselves as many times as they can into the air above Gladiator Arena where they'll try to sink baskets against two Gladiators with launch buttons of their own. A ball sunk in the lower basket is worth one point; balls in the upper basket are worth two.

The other new event "Vertigo" is a foot race 30 feet in the air on top of thin poles that sway back and forth. Racers begin on the ground and attempt to scale the first poles as fast as they can. When they reach the top, they propel themselves from one pole to the other. The race continues until the first person reaches the final pole and grabs the trapeze at the end. Points are given if the contender reaches the end.

American Gladiators airs on May 12th from 8-10pm on NBC.
