Local musician John Fro will celebrate the release of his latest album "Archives," tonight at the Triangle Inn in South Salem. The album is a collection of recordings taken from the musician's archives.
"Hence the name `Archives,'" Fro said.
This will be the artist's second full-length album. His first, "Afterthoughts," was purely acoustic guitar. "Archives" offers a little of everything, including piano, bass, drums, and electric guitars.
"Most of the songs are still acoustic, which is what I really love," Fro said.
Fro calls this album "melodic rock and blues." It will be available for purchase at Ranch Records and online at cdbaby.com.
Fro has played with several bands and many other musicians throughout the years. He has also toured throughout the northwest. He released "Room4" an experimental hip-hop recording, which he also recorded and produced. His other release was with NuClear, a band he led for three years.
Tonight's show will feature Fro performing alone for the most part, but Ben Sutton and Gabe McGraw will join him for a few songs.
"Gabe McGraw is doing a song with me that is on the new album. He is a very talented lyricist and just recently put out a solo hip hop album."
Tonight's show starts at 9:30 p.m. Other performers include Jettison Ben, Thomas Kramer and John Ulrich.
Salem Monthly Newspaper will feature a longer article on John Fro in its upcoming issue, which is due out March 1.
The Triangle Inn is located at 3215 South Liberty Street. To hear some of Fro's music or to find out more about him, visit MySpace.
