It's a rather slow week for theatres; only one new wide release is coming out. This is an excellent opportunity for folks who are not interested in talking CGI animals to find an independent or art house theater and take in a little culture. Next week brings "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" so pull out your bullwhip and get ready to stand in line next week.
"Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian"
One year has passed since the events that occurred in "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," but once the children find themselves back in Narnia, they realize that 1300 years have passed there. While they were away, an evil king conquered Narnia. "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" is rated PG and has a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes. It is playing at Regal Movieland 7, Regal Lancaster Mall Stadium 11, and Independence Cinema.
"The Visitor"
"The Visitor" is the second outing for writer/director Tom McCarthy. His first film was "The Station Agent," which won countless awards and critical acclaim. In "The Visitor," a college professor named Walter Vale (Richard Jenkins) travels to New York City and discovers a young couple living in his apartment. The couple had been swindled by a con man who rented out the apartment with hopes that the real owner wouldn't show. Instead of kicking them out, Vale invites these strangers to stay. You may recognize Jenkins from his role in "Six Feet Under." "The Visitor" is rated PG-13 and is playing at Salem Cinema. For showtimes and more information on the film, you can visit Salem Cinema's website at salemcinema.com.
