Idoltude: American Idol says goodbye to Ramiele Malubay

Tonight Ramiele Malubay bid a tearful farewell to her roommates and American Idol cronies. The saddest part is that she really had no business being in the Top Twelve in the first place. Ramiele's performances were like watching a child pretend to be on American Idol. When you're as short as she is and have as tinny and hollow a voice as she does, you have to make up for it with a firecracker personality. Ramiele's personality was more like a trick birthday candle. The kind that just. won't. go. away.

Joining her in the Bottom Three were Kristy Lee Cook (hallelujah!) and Brooke White, who may have been a surprise to some people, but she has had a string of so-so performances and needed a wake-up call.

This season America just can't seem to get it right. But Tonight's Bottom Three actually (for the first time this season, I daresay) offered a pretty good reflection of who should go home. Last week, Ramiele and Kristy sailed through, while inconsistent - but entertaining - Chikezie was sent home. The week before last wild-haired Amanda Overmyer was sent home over Kristy and Ramiele wasn't even IN the Bottom Three. But tonight, finally, America seemed to get it together.

Next week is Idol Gives Back, which means we all join hands and sing Kumbaya and no one goes home. Great. That means TWO more weeks of the horrid Kristy. But this is a golden fundraising opportunity. I will GLADLY double my pledge, if the producers promise to muzzle Kristy next week. We could raise more money this year than ever before.
