Idoltude: American Idol says goodbye to resident stoner Jason Castro

Tonight's Idol episode was none too dramatic. On Tuesday Jason Castro, cute, sweet, harmless Jason Castro, sucked the big one. And tonight he was sent home. His looks, temperament and downright likableness have kept him in this long, well besides the two or three rare fine moments that he's had on stage.

Kudos to Jason for knowing his boundaries and acknowledging that his lack of experience has been holding him back. After being voted off, Ryan commented that Jason looked slightly relieved, which I think was accurate. The boy was in over his head. All he really wants to do, bless his heart, is to get baked, play his guitar and eat cheesy puffs. He's a simple man. In fact, TMZ has said that perhaps Jason even mouthed the words "Don't vote" to the audience on Tuesday night. You be the judge: click to see the video

Speaking of kudos, Syesha deserves big-time kudos for clarifying why she had an emotional breakdown on stage last night. In yesterday's Idoltude  we ranted and raved that Ms. Mercado might be missing the big picture and that perhaps her narrow-minded interpretation of the song was a bit self-centered. Tonight, though, she proved that maybe she's not as dimwitted as we first thought. Hooray for Syesha and whomever gave her the dose of reality that she needed.

Next week the Idols will traipse home for a weekend, receive keys to their city, visit with family, perform for throngs of eager fans and generally get the red carpet treatment. Then one of them will be sent home for good. How completely anticlimactic.

Jason sure did seem to mouth DON'T VOTE as Ryan was giving out the voting number. I'm sure he realized he was overmatched and over his head a few weeks ago and quit putting his all into it. I'm just disappointed he lasted longer than Carly and Michael Johns who had waay more talent than this kid.

Ok if he said don't vote the d sound would put his top and bottom teeth together, the v sound would put your top teeth over your bottom lip. If you have half a brain you would see that he was saying VOTE  VOTE TMZ and everyone get a clue and stop trying to make stuff up so you can sell stories. I think it is time for you to grow up.
