But tonight we got something even better. We may have found our next Sanjaya. You probably remember him best as The Latino Gentleman Who Paula Made Out With. In the interest of clarity, I'll just call him Latin Lover.

He didn't impress Simon, but he had Paula at "Hola."

Obviously our Latin Lover is a man of great passion -- in that Antonio Banderas- I-want- to-kiss-the-life-out-of-you-and-then-mourn- your-death-for-the-rest-of-my-life kind of way. Unfortunately it comes off feeling more like Antonio Banderas on SNL making fun of himself. All we needed was Horatio Sanz in the background saying "No, no! It's too hot. It's too hot."

Our Latin Lover's voice was decent and he made it through to Hollywood. Let us not forget, though, that Sanjaya was decent in his first audition, too:

If he makes it through Hollywood week, you can be sure there will be Web sites promoting him (Vote for the freak! It makes AI worth watching again) and pathetic, emotional little girls who sob their sweet little eyes out as he performs while the rest of America watches in horror, much like they did when the creepy boy pleaded to "Leave Britney ALONE."

Yes, we Americans do enjoy a train wreck, don't we?

I'm still holding out hope for a jaw-dropping show-stopping audition. But for now I'm content that at least we may have some darn good drama on the horizon.
