"Kung Fu Panda"Finally, this movie is released. It seems like the studio has been marketing this flick for years now. If you've somehow missed it, Jack Black is the lead voice in this animated cartoon movie about a panda bear who embarks on a quest to fulfill an ancient prophecy. Of course, Black's character, Po, is just a fan of Kung Fu and knows nothing about actually being a ninja. Fat jokes and other hilarity ensues. There is an all-star supporting casting as well: Angelina Jolie, David Cross, Michael Clarke Duncan, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, Dan Fogler, Dustin Hoffman, and Jackie Chan all lend their vocal chords to the effort. Kung Fu Panda is rated PG and is playing at Regal Movieland 7 and Regal Santiam 11.
"You Don't Mess With the Zohan"
Adam Sandler plays Zohan, who you do not mess with. Zohan is an Israeli commando who decides that it's time to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a hairstylist. Oh boy. Sandler seems to be trying to find out how far he can push his fans. All of the usual Sandler production people make appearances -- John Turturro, Nick Swardson, Rob Schneider, Robert Smigel, and even Kevin Nealon. Part of the fun of watching Sandler's movies is to see how he sneaks Rob Schneider into the film. Maybe Judd Apatow, who has come on to producer, can save the movie. Apatow and Sandler currently are working together on their next flick in which Sandler will star as a stand-up comedian. It might very well put Sandler back on track. Here's hoping that Adam Sandler doesn't become the next Pauly Shore. "Zohan" is rated PG-13 and is playing at Regal Movieland 7, Regal Lancaster Mall Stadium 11, and Independence Cinema.
