Another musically themed exhibition at Hallie Ford celebrates the 40th anniversary of the commonly named Summer of Love.
"When 6 WAS 9: Rock Posters from San Francisco, 1966-71," features 56 posters from the collection of Salem artist Gary Westfjord, who is also the chair of the art department at Linn Benton Community College.
The exhibition will include a number of free programs, including a lecture by Westfjord on June 8 at 5 p.m. on the history of rock posters; a screening of the documentary "Monterey Pop" on June 14 at 7 p.m.; and a roundtable talk on the San Francisco music scene with poster artist Bob Schnepf, Westfjord and Museum
Director John Olbrantz on June 23 at 2 p.m. All events will be held at the museum. The exhibition will be on view through August 26.
A companion exhibition, titled "American Music Posters, 1935-2007," will be presented by the Salem Art Association at the Bush Barn Art Center later this summer. It runs July 6 to August 5.
