Salem Public Library launches their 2008 Summer Reading Club, "Catch the Reading Bug" on June 3rd.

All Salem children can sign up beginning June 3.
Once signed up, children track the time that they spend reading, or even being read to, with a goal of earning "Book Bucks" that can be spent in a prize store at the end of the summer. Local businesses and organizations have donated various prizes that will be used in the store and in drawings. Each participant receives a "Catch the Reading Bug" book-bag after clocking in 10 hours.

Additional drawing tickets are also awarded to children who read from various genres that correspond with a Summer Reading Club game board.

In addition to the prizes, Salem Public Library offers several activities and performances over the summer months. A complete list of the programs is available at salemlibrary.org or by phone at (503) 588-6088.
