No AC360 in The Mole

Remember when Anderson Cooper was a reporter on the high school syndicated on "Channel 1"? Then he sort of disappeared for awhile and came back as a reality TV show host for "The Mole"? America fell in love with him. Well now that he's a big ratings-grabber for CNN, he's left us with a different host for the next full season of "The Mole." We miss you, AC. Jon Kelley is taking on hosting duties this season. His background is in sports commentating and co-hosting "Extra's" weekend edition. Eight contestants have been announced for the upcoming season. For more information of them, visit ABC's contestant page. "The Mole" premieres on ABC, Monday June 2 at 9 p.m.

"90210": The Retirement Years

Jennie Garth is officially attached to the return of the famed series. She'll be reprising her role of Kelly Taylor, who is now a guidance counselor at West Beverly Hills High. Rob Thomas (creator of "Veronica Mars") wrote the initial draft of the script, but the new executive producers have rewritten it. The success of the show may very well hinge on how much of Thomas's high school drama magic was left in.

"Lost" finds its way

"Lost" fans have gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to consecutive airings of new episodes. But it's time to stop complaining as ABC and the "Lost" producers have inked a deal to run the 48 remaining episodes uninterrupted over three seasons concluding the show in the 2009-10 season.

"This is a bold and unprecedented move for ABC," said Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, executive producers. "We always envisioned 'Lost' as a show with a beginning, middle and end. By officially announcing exactly when that ending will be, the audience will now have the security of knowing that the story will play out as we've intended."

They say that the end will be "shocking" -- let's hope they haven't talked to the Sopranos producers.

Development news

All networks are set to announce their Fall schedules this week. Monday is NBC, Tuesday is ABC / the CW, Wednesday is CBS, and Thursday is Fox. We'll be watching for any interesting developments in that area. To hold you over, here's some news:

  1. "Back to You" is not coming back to you. It's being reported by various sources anonymously that the show has been cancelled. While the other horrible comedy, "Til Death" is coming back to kill us all.

  2. Alexander Payne ("Sideways") has signed onto direct and executive produce an HBO show about a well-endowed man who has finally figured out how to use his special "gift." The name of the series is, of course, "Hung". No, I'm not kidding.

  3. Marti Noxon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") is leaving "Private Practice." Noxon was the executive producer doing the "showrunning", she has been replaced with Robert Rovner and Jon Cowan, who previously ran "Bionic Woman" and "Crossing Jordan." In other "Private Practice" news, David Sutcliffe has been signed to join the cast as a love interest for one of the women.
