"The Happening"

M. Night Shyamalan's latest freaky movie opens this weekend. Without the Funky Bunch by his side, Mark Wahlberg stars as a high school teacher trying to escape an unknown, but deadly, phenomenon that is killing people around the world. Zooey Daschanel co-stars as Wahlberg's wife, who teams up with a friend (John Leguizamo) and his 8-year-old daughter to escape. Initial reports across the Internet are not very positive; many are comparing this film to Shyamalan's last flop, "The Lady in the Water," instead of the successful "The Sixth Sense."

"The Incredible Hulk"

For those confused about why there's another "The Incredible Hulk," this is a reboot of the franchise. That means Marvel is trying to put the horror of the first film out of its memory. Edward Norton plays Bruce Banner this time and Liv Tyler has taken on the role of his love interest Betty Ross. In this film, Hulk battles a comic book foe, The Abomination. You may have noticed Robert Downey Jr. in the latest media blitz for the movie. He is indeed playing Tony Stark/Ironman in this film. Since Marvel has begun producing their own movies in their own studio, the ability for the characters to mesh together is a lot easier. Originally Downey's appearance was supposed to be a surprise cameo, but the rumors say that Marvel was worried about the Hulk reboot meeting the same financial fate as the original.

Next week, Brad Pitt's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston and current wife Angelina Jolie face off in the box office. While that catfight is going on, Steve Carrell is becoming clever in "Get Smart." Hooray, Steve Carrell is going to be funny again. Take that, "Dan in Real Life."
