Last month, the venue formerly known as Roxxy's got a new name, RoXX, and new management.
Facility manager Danny Moore took time out of his schedule to answer some questions about plans for the future.
Q: Can you tell us a bit about what went into the name change? Why did you stick with something so close to the previous one?
A: It was decided that regardless of any former tenant or management company's reasons for not maintaining a viable business at the location; the building and the 45-foot neon sign were guilty of nothing. Besides this place RoXX.
Q: What are the current plans regarding menu/drinks?
A: It will not come as a surprise to Salem that the facility is designed to be a 150 seat pizzeria capable of handling any large venue. The fact that we serve 31 gourmet combination's of pizza, calzone, and strombolis is bound to impress. Soups, salads, fantastic sides, delicious desserts, coke products and Allann Bros. coffee round out the menu.
Q: What are you planning to do with the live music?
A: We intend to feature national and NW performers live three nights a week.
Q: What types of genres will you be catering to?
A: We will cater to the big band swing, malt shop memories she-bop, classic rock, blues and jazz genres. Three nights a week we feature a very well known radio talent - named DJ ENJAY.
Q: How will it differ from Roxxy's
A: The name and the building appear the same; the staff, the menu, the music has been raised to a new level that exceeds expectations.
Q: Will you have theme nights?
A: We have a complete annual calender of events, monthly holidays, and special productions to entertain the entire community.
Q: What are some of the things you have planned for the month of February?
A: In February we will bring our Mardi Gras festivities. We will be releasing the live entertainment schedule via our website roxxy.info thesalemRoxxy.com. The month will finish off with our Girls of The RoXX calender contest.
Q: Given the rough track record of the venue, what do you hope for as you turn a new page?
A: The past is simply the past. The future is yet to be experienced. We are not turning a new page, we're simply rewriting the book on entertainment as the Salem community currently perceives it.
Q: Is there anything else you want people to know about The Roxx?
A: KWOU will be broadcasting live from The Roxx. Table reservations are accepted for any of our events.
